New Gym on the Block

Going to the gym frequently is respectfully beneficial, but can become a bit mundane. For those of us who welcome spontaneity, changing up our workout routine can result in an increased likelihood to stick with regular physical activity. Here's a list of trendy workouts to try when you need a break from the treadmill. 1. Barre Fitness: These workouts mimic exercises ballerinas use to target muscles of the core, arms and legs. A combination of yoga and Pilates creates a challenging, but exciting experience. And there's an added plus of getting to channel your inner Black Swan.  Average Calories Burned (90 min  class) : 400-500 cals 2. Indoor Surfing: Can't swim? Afraid of sharks? No worries, this gnarly workout will allow you to ride imaginary waves as you balance on a replica surf board. Summer's Almost Here...Have No Fear!

Summer brings swimming, beach days, flip-flops, fireworks and sunshine. With rising temperatures and humidity also comes an increased desire to indulge in ice cream, lemonade, sweet iced tea and sodas. Picnics and barbecues are also guilty of being abundant with creamy pasta salads, fried chicken, slathered baby back ribs, and baked beans. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle isn't one size fits all and doesn't require one to completely eliminate foods. The goal is to find balance with foods that are wholesome and nutrient dense with those that aren't in moderation. Here are some tips for mastering the summer temptations: 1. Eats lots of water-rich fruits and veggies:      Watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, grapefruit, peaches, pineapple, cucumber, zucchini, tomatoes, bell peppers and cabbage  have a high water content and will keep you hydrated. 2.
