New Gym on the Block

Going to the gym frequently is respectfully beneficial, but can become a bit mundane. For those of us who welcome spontaneity, changing up our workout routine can result in an increased likelihood to stick with regular physical activity. Here's a list of trendy workouts to try when you need a break from the treadmill.

1. Barre Fitness: These workouts mimic exercises ballerinas use to target muscles of the core, arms and legs. A combination of yoga and Pilates creates a challenging, but exciting experience. And there's an added plus of getting to channel your inner Black Swan.
Average Calories Burned (90 min
 class): 400-500 cals

2. Indoor Surfing: Can't swim? Afraid of sharks? No worries, this gnarly workout will allow you to ride imaginary waves as you balance on a replica surf board. Exercises emulate positions of actual surfers and are a combination of cardio and strength.

Average Calories Burned (45 min class): 450-800 cals

3. Cardio Drumming: Blow off steam through this fast-paced workout inspired by movements of musicians when playing the drums. Weighted batons and stability balls are used in conjunction with up-tempo music to create a workout that feels more like a concert.
